Spotlight on Tom Long

As a native of Montrose, Thomas L. Long grew up understanding the importance of the saying, “We have two ears and one tongue so can listen twice as much as we speak.” by the Greek philosopher Epictetus. Tom’s goal is to make every client feel heard, respected, and understood. “I want my clients to leave the office knowing they have an advocate who truly understands their issues. Together we can collaborate on the best course of action.” Tom’s calm composure and caring manner engender his clients’ confidence.

After studying English at CU Boulder; receiving his JD from California Western School of Law in San Diego; Tom worked for 10 years as an employment lawyer in Folsom, California. The siren’s song of Western Colorado lured Tom back to his roots in 2022. He was pleased to join up with Dufford Waldeck in their new Montrose office, to broaden his singular focus of Employment Law into a more general civil practice.

Tom is licensed to practice law in California. Currently, he’s studying for the MPRE (Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination). After successful completion, Tom will be sworn-in as a Colorado-licensed attorney.

When not in the office or studying, Tom enjoys family time, reading, and learning from the master, his mom, in the kitchen. While golfing is his passion, he admits to being a duffer. We will only know for sure after the next attorney golf event.
