ABOUT MICHAEL

"Helping you make the right decision."

Michael's primary area of practice involves helping people establish, purchase, run and sell their businesses. He enjoys spending time with small-business owners to help protect them from liability and to run their businesses more smoothly. He also provides ongoing representation to existing business owners regarding various aspects of commercial and employment law.

Michael also handles a variety of real estate matters. He drafts contracts for the purchase and sale of real estate and assists with negotiating real estate transactions. He helps developers through the development process, including writing declarations of covenants, conditions and restrictions for subdivisions and condominium projects, forming homeowner associations, and working with relevant governmental authorities for approval of new subdivisions, condominiums and other projects.  He also drafts and negotiates leases for commercial, residential, agricultural and recreational uses.

Assisting ranchers and rural property owners dealing with the oil and gas industry is another major part of Michael's practice. Oil and gas law is a very old area of the law that is complex and unfamiliar to most people. Helping clients through the negotiating process with oil and gas companies and drafting leases and surface use agreements that include the best interests of the client are particularly important to Michael.

Finally, Michael has developed an active practice assisting physicians and dentists with matters that are often unique to their profession, including employment matters, practice management issues, buying into a practice, the buying and selling of practices, and regulatory issues.

An outdoor enthusiast, Michael hikes, bikes, camps, and skis; he also enjoys running and spending time on the water.
