Dufford Waldeck is pleased to welcome our newest law clerk and soon-to-be Associate, D. Ross Smith, Jr. Ross graduated in the top quarter of his class at the University of Kansas School of Law. He served as the Executive Staff Articles Editor at the Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy. Before law school, Ross earned a master’s degree in history from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from East Carolina University.
Ross passed the Colorado bar exam and will be sworn in as an attorney and counselor at law later this fall. In the meantime, Ross has been helping with research, writing briefs, and providing incisive legal support to Dufford Waldeck’s team of lawyers.
Before joining Dufford Waldeck, Ross worked as a law clerk for the public utilities regulatory commission for the state of Kansas and for a boutique law firm serving federal government contractors. Ross also interned with Hon. Kathryn H. Vratil and Hon. Teresa J. James of the United States District Court for the District of Kansas.
Hailing from North Carolina, Ross enjoys woodworking, creative writing, book collecting, and hiking.
