After growing up in the upper Midwest, Michael moved to Utah to attend law school and never looked back. He relocated from Salt Lake City to Grand Junction and joined DWMK in 2001. Focusing on business and transactional law, he has a great deal of experience assisting clients in getting new businesses up and running. “Working with small businesses and family businesses is very enjoyable,” he says. “My clients are down-to-earth people.”
The oil and gas boom cycle has kept Michael very busy. Over the last few years he has devoted more of his practice to assisting property owners with oil and gas leases and surface use agreements. "People need to be careful and make sure they understand what they're signing, otherwise the results could be devastating."
Michael volunteers in the Mesa County Pro Bono Project’s restraining order program and was the Project’s president in 2005. He is also on the Riverfront Commission and serves on the National Tamarisk Coalition, based in Grand Junction. He enjoys hiking, biking, camping, skiing, canoeing, and describes himself as a “semi-serious” runner.
