Annie Deprey Murphy was working as a paralegal in Salt Lake City when she decided to attend law school at the University of Utah. During law school she worked as law clerk for an attorney in Park City, Utah, and for the Salt Lake Legal Defenders in Salt Lake City.
Annie considers the year she clerked in the Fourth District Court in Provo, Utah, an invaluable experience. “In the Fourth District Court, law clerks are also bailiffs,” she explains, “so I had the opportunity to attend the police academy. As a bailiff, I spent much more time in court than most law clerks do. It was great experience and exposure.”
Annie joined DWMK in August 2006. She was attracted to Grand Junction because it would give her the opportunity to work in land issues and property law while living in a small town (Mesa) with incredible recreational opportunities.
Annie, a native of Wisconsin, completed her undergraduate degree in English and secondary education and spent two years in Ketchikan, Alaska, where she was a kayak and mountain bike guide, seventh and eighth grade teacher, and high school track and cross country coach. She is a cyclist for Squadra Velocita, skier, trail runner, and has completed 10 marathons. She is a volunteer coach for the Grand Mesa Gliders, a junior cross-country ski team on the Grand Mesa.
